TWO MEETINGS SCHEDULED, TWO BILLS THROUGH COMMITTEE
I hope you'll be able to join me at two upcoming meetings. First, my next town hall meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. until noon, in room 1B-88 of the Visual Arts Complex on the CU-Boulder campus. Click here if you need to check the campus map for directions. State Reps. Dickey Lee Hullinghorst, Deb Gardner and Claire Levy will also be there to speak, and we'll all be discussing key state issues - one full month into the 2011 session.
Next, we have scheduled the public congressional redistricting meeting for Congressional District 2. It will be held Tuesday, March 15, from 6 p.m. until 9, in room 235 of the University Memorial Center (UMC) on the CU-Boulder campus. The campus map link above will also show the location of the UMC. I strongly recommend visiting the new state redistricting Web page, www.colorado.gov/redistricting, to learn more about the process before the meeting.
Also, I'm pleased to announce that two of my sponsored bills have passed through at least one Senate committee. SB-037, which would authorize special license plates for veterans of World War II, has passed both the State, Veterans and Military Affairs committee and the Finance committee. SB-047, which would create a new source of funding for economic development grants that would assist Colorado's bioscience and clean technology industries, passed the Business, Labor and Technology committee on Feb. 8.
It's been an action-packed session so far, and there's plenty more to come. Feel free to sign up for my newsletters and notifications using the "Signup for newsletters" link along the left side of this page if you're not already on my list, and I hope to see you Saturday!
